Statement of Purpose for Medical Prescription Services Ltd

Aims:

To continue to develop and utilise cutting edge technology to ensure applicants are rigorously screened, and when medically appropriate, supplied with a range of Prescription Only Medicines (POMs) by a community pharmacist or nurse, using Patient Group Direction (PGD) services for which they have received specific training.

Objectives:

  • To develop technology that empowers community pharmacists or nurses to offer an increasing range of patient centred services.

  • To continue to work with our community pharmacy or nurse partners to maximise patient choice and convenience.

  • To empower community pharmacists and nurses to move from paper based PGD services to more robust and accountable electronic (ePGD) services.

Services Provided:

MPS also provides an Occupational Health Scheme to its corporate clients. The scheme supports business continuity arranges in the case of an influenza pandemic. The scheme enables individuals, nominated by an employer, to be screened online, and where medically appropriate, antiviral medication to be electronically prescribed as part of an agreed occupational health scheme.

MPS provides a Patient Group Direction (PGD) service in paper and electronic formats. The service enables appropriately trained pharmacists and nurses to offer a wide range of PGD authorised services.
